Viewpoint Digital Opens Texture Library; Viewpoint Expands Product Line to Include Extensive Library of Individually Available Texture Maps

OREM, UT--Viewpoint Digital, Inc. announced it has expanded its 3D digital content product line to include a library of more than 4,000 texture maps to meet customer demand for ready-made textures for photorealistic rendering.

With the addition of the Texture Library, Viewpoint customers have access to an extensive and rapidly growing selection of digital content, including high quality 3D models, very high-resolution 2D geographic images and detailed texture maps.

Unlike traditional texture libraries, Viewpoint's new offering provides 3D animators and content developers with individual texture previewing and licensing capabilities and 24x7 availability via Viewpoint's e-commerce Web site, supporting immediate online delivery for their fast-paced projects. Texture categories available include Animals, Clothing and Fabrics, Exteriors, Gadgets, Interiors, Military, Nature, Signs, Vehicles and Miscellaneous objects, with others to be added over time. In addition to standard texture maps of wood, granite, rust and foliage, specialized maps for animals such as eyes, skin and hair are included. The textures are available in numerous formats, including TIFF, GIF, JPEG, TGA and SGI RGB, and can be modified with standard photo editing tools.

The new Texture Library consists of thousands of textures used in Viewpoint's Model Bank and Premier model archive, hundreds developed and used internally on high profile projects, and thousands from third parties who have chosen Viewpoint as their publishing partner.

The textures are available in multiple resolutions, ranging from over 2,000 x 2,000 pixels to less than 256 x 256 pixels, giving customers the flexibility to license only the resolutions they need. Many are available with corresponding bump maps, allowing users to add relief and create shadows from that relief, ultimately lending realism to the resulting rendering or animation. 

Many of the textures are seamlessly tileable and can be reproduced to cover large areas of a 3D model.

The textures are also available at a discount for Model Bank subscribers, at http://modelbank.viewpoint.com, with member pricing of $1.95 to $19.95 each. All prices are in US dollars.
