announced today the availability of Commotion version 2.0, the
award-winning visual effects application for video, film, and
digital content creation professionals. Version 2.0 of Commotion
dramatically broadens Commotion’s creative tool set with
over 200 preset FX Brushes for creating textured and stylized
media brush effects, dozens of filter effects, text creation
tools, multiple undo, and support for 3rd party filter plug-ins.
Built on top of Commotion’s solid image editing and effects
tools these ‘must have’ features are a direct response
to the requests made by thousands of Commotion users worldwide.

What’s New In Version 2.0:
- o FX Brush — The
FX Brush is a texture-based paint engine that enables artists
to add an unlimited variety of brushes to their paint arsenal.
Users can create textured and stylized media brushes including
chalk, charcoal, clouds, crayon, and neon. For unique special
effects, customized brushes can be made from illustrations
or still images. The FX Brush is fully integrated with Commotion’s
AutoPaint, Rotospline, and Motion Tracking tools to provide
a new level of creative options for animation effects.
- o 3rd Party Effects Plug-in
support — Commotion 2.0 supports Puffin Designs’
Knoll Lens Flare Pro™, as well as 3rd party plug-ins
such as Final Effects Complete™, Evolution™, and
dozens of others. All effects can be adjusted over time and
applied to any clip using the new keyframeable effects editor.
Processed effects can be played back in realtime for immediate
evaluation.
- o Motion Text Plug-In
— Users can create, edit, and adjust animated TrueType™
and Postscript™ titles within Commotion. Motion Text
allows interactive control and animation over fonts in position,
rotation, scale, leading, color, opacity and baseline shape,
and renders with high quality motion blur for professional-looking
titles.
- o Multiple Undo —
Commotion 2.0 supports multiple undos for paint operations,
allowing artists to experiment more freely with a variety
of looks before committing their changes.
- o Over 20 new Filter Effects
— New filters include powerful keying, blurring/sharpening
and full geometric image transformations for precise keyframeable
position, rotation, corner pinning, and scale adjustments.
16 new software filters from ICEfx™ further add to the
enhancements in Commotion 2.0.
