Powerful Upgrade Redefines Digital Video Editing with Software Real-time Playback

Pasadena, CA in:sync corporation announced Speed Razor® Mach 4.5, a powerful upgrade that delivers real-time online and offline video editing over a Windows® based network. This upgrade addresses the needs of broadcast and post-production professionals for real-time video effects editing for a networkable real-time editing solution. Speed Razor 4.5 will also save time and system costs as it expands creative options in both shared and individual video editing environments.

Speed Razor 4.5 gives unprecedented option to the editors with software real-time playback on the computer screen, independent of video capture hardware capabilities. When used over a network, Speed Razor 4.5 makes it possible to edit without capture hardware installed on offline editing stations. The upgrade will also deliver new video effects and compositing tools including - image stabilization, motion and four-corner tracking, expanded DPS Perception support, AVI file export, filmstrips on timeline, audio voice-overs and more.

Due for release on October 30th '98, version 4.5 is a free upgrade for users of Speed Razor 4.0.

New Speed Razor 4.5 Versions

To meet a range of video editing needs from the full broadcast professional to the prosumer market, Speed Razor 4.5 will be available in RT, S, and SE versions for real-time, single-stream professional and prosumer video capture hardware. This produces three distinct products in the Speed Razor family, each tailored to the capabilities of specific hardware.

Speed Razor 4.5 RT for Real-time hardware including the Matrox Digisuite, Matrox Digisuite LE, Truevision Targa 2000 RTX, Pinnacle Systems’ Reeltime

Speed Razor 4.5 S for professional single stream hardware including the DPS Perception and Truevision Targa 1000, Targa 2000, Targa 1000 PRO, Targa 2000 PRO, Targa 2000 DTX

Speed Razor 4.5 SE (Special Edition) single stream for prosumer single stream hardware, specifically the Pinnacle Miro DC 30, DC 50 and Miro DV 300 Flexibility and Speed: A Networkable Real-time Video Editing Solution Optimized for use over a range of high-speed networks, Speed Razor 4.5 gives post-production houses, universities, and television stations a broadcast quality video editing network to meet deadline and budget demands.

Speed Razor 4.5 RT, S, and SE can be combined on a single network with a range of hardware configurations. Video editors have the freedom to load projects from one workstation to another with different video capture hardware and Speed Razor 4.5 versions. Source video can be captured to a common storage server and work shared to split up editing, animating, sound, graphics and other post production tasks. Editors on multiple workstations have simultaneous access to the captured clips. Video can be captured on a single stream capture workstation and edited in real-time in software. Projects could then be moved to a dual stream editing workstation or rendered on any of the workstations on the network. Real-Time Offline Video Editing in Software
By using software decompression of video files, Speed Razor 4.5 gives editors real-time playback for multiple streams of video on the computer's VGA screen, independent of video capture hardware installed on the workstation. Apply any k:sync plug in effect or transition (all in:sync effects and transitions, Inscriber, Film FX and other third party effects) and see the result in real-time without any rendering. Editors can then output final sections or programs using either dual or single stream video capture hardware.

New Video Effects and Compositing Tools
The Speed Razor 4.5 upgrade provides new Image Stabilization, Garbage Matte, Multi-Point Tracking, 2D DVE and Motion Tracking effects for professional compositing results. The new garbage matte tool allows editors to create a matte or select an area of a clip to adjust. 2D DVE provides rotation and position control. In addition, many existing effects and transitions (including 3D DVE, Titles, and Wipes) have been enhanced with new intuitive graphic tools. As an added bonus for Speed Razor 4.5 users, in:sync is releasing a free pack 3D video effects plug-ins called 3D X2 which will be available in the fourth quarter.
