Industry Support for 3D Studio MAX R3

  • The creators of 3D Studio MAX have answered my prayers! They understand how artists think and work - and what they need and don't want in an application. 3D Studio MAX R3 delivers without the artist having to know the magic number.
  • MAX R3's thumbnail display lets me easily locate pictures, scenes and other objects, saving me hours of searching for the right bitmap. Being able to exclude objects from the Zoom extensions makes working within scenery easier with clearly visible, direct access to the object you are manipulating. And MAX R3's ability to turn default lights into real lights is a godsend!

  • 3D Studio MAX R3 is the most significant upgrade yet! The External Reference feature promises to change the production flow forever.
  • Having total control of anti-aliasing in the new MAX R3 renderer is excellent. And the interactive post render effects is a huge time saver!

  • The new rendering options found in 3D Studio MAX R3 are alone worth the price of admission. The new renderer unquestionably competes with high-end applications.
  • MAX R3 also includes more anti-alias filters than you could ever ask for! And External Referencing greatly improves the efficiency of large-scale projects by minimizing the number of duplicate assets needed online.

  • 3D Studio MAX R3 is the most powerful release yet – and the most flexible 3D application. After using MAX R3, I could never go back to R2.5. This new release has too many features I need. And I’m so glad Discreet included the new External References features to enable us to transparently work as a team on a project.
  • The adaptability of this new interface rocks! With 3D Studio MAX R3, character animation is easier than ever with more "out-of-the-box" tools and enhancements like Flex for creating cool secondary animation.
  • The new rendering engine, Render Effects and materials make it much easier to make objects look the way I want them to. This is important when working on a broadcast commercial one day, and creating photorealistic fighter jets for film the next.

  • With 3D Studio MAX R3, Discreet and Autodesk continue to push the MAX platform into the high-end arena by refining the existing tool-set and adding lots of new features. When you consider the performance and flexibility increase, it just makes sense to upgrade to R3.
  • It’s hard not to smile with MAX R3! The amount of proceduralism built into the core package gives the artist lots of flexibility. And judging by the large number of "wish list" items that made their way into this release, it’s clear that Discreet listened to end users.
  • The new External References system is amazing and will put 3D Studio MAX R3 at the top of every production team leader’s list. Its ability to reference scene data from several sources allows a team to work on the same scene at the same time – one person can surface objects, another animates, and another creates the lighting – and the pieces come together seamlessly.
  • The new fully customizable interface is a treat for the individual artist. Now I don’t have to follow anyone’s rules: I can set up my tool however I want and even swap it out with other interfaces.
  • The new material shaders and anti-aliasing filters substantially improve the ability to create photorealistic imagery for visual effects.

  • 3D Studio MAX R3 excels where other programs fail. The performance-to-price ratio is outstanding, and the tool-set is more complete than ever. MAX R3 is a must-have upgrade!
  • Achieving a sense of realism is key to successful feature film work, and having reliable software you can depend on to create realistic effects is crucial. The highly customizable 3D Studio MAX R3 works with us and not against us.
  • The new rendering capabilities will enable artists to achieve the highest quality of images possible within 3D Studio MAX.

  • With this release, 3D Studio MAX has jumped out in front. The new shaders and rendering options are awesome, and the number of features and design options is staggering! I could go on and on.
  • 3D Studio MAX R3 makes it much easier to achieve the realism clients demand of today's visual effects. The anistropics feature makes it easier than ever to create photorealistic metals. The Orin-Nayer-Blinn shader is amazing. And the Flex plug-in for applying soft body dynamics is worth the upgrade alone.
  • This new release has totally changed the way I work in MAX; now I get a lot more done in a lot less time. The new layout and Shematic View makes 3D Studio MAX a truly customizable application, allowing us to work any way we want and enabling us to work on different machines without losing design changes. The new icons and shelves are a joy to work with!
  • •Discreet and Autodesk have more than lived up to their reputation of delivering true full-featured solutions that take animation to the next level. I can't imagine any MAX user not immediately upgrading to MAX R3.

  • 3D Studio MAX R3 is a great improvement over previous releases. I love how the new shaders and texture sampling give me more control over the look of final renderings. Meshsmooth and patch modeling are now easier using MAX R3's more intuitive tools like beveling, extruding, and chamfering the tools which provide an excellent way to work.
  • MAX R3's enhanced user interface and expanded MaxScript capabilities gives animators more control over customization. The ability to write plug-ins within MaxScript makes it very quick and easy to create task-specific tools to reduce your workload.
