Another First for
DV Master: First affordable DV Editing Solution now with 16:9
Support for PAL Plus
FAST Multimedia has announced new
functions for DV MasterTM. In releasing software version 1.7,
FAST is fulfilling the wishes of numerous users: support for
the 16:9 letterbox format (only for PAL Plus), capture functions
for clips of any length, and an audio switch function. The software
update to version 1.7 for Windows 95, 98, and NT will be available
worldwide as of mid November. It can be downloaded free-of-charge
from the FAST web site, purchased on CD-ROM from the local FAST
offices or from authorized retailers.
Good reasons for investing in the
new editing solution and hardware codec are not only the excellent
image quality and performance of DV Master. Customers have the
guarantee that their systems are state-of-the-art and the range
of functions is constantly expanding. FAST will introduce new
features for DV Master as early as November - customized to
meet the wishes of their customers:
DV Master is the only nonlinear
editing solution now capable of processing 16:9 recordings according
to the PAL Plus standard with wide-playback code. This appealing
format is ideal for panorama and landscape footage. And, for
portraits, the cameraman can now decide to use the artistically
intriguing side shot instead of the usual centered position
typical of 4:3.
Moreover, clips of any length can
now be played back without interruption as well as recorded
to hard disk. The software automatically creates new files even
if the hard disk is full. In which case, the files are automatically
captured and stored on the next disk. The 2 gigabyte Video for
Windows limitation (approx. 9 minutes of video) is now a thing
of the past. This is a useful feature for users who prefer playing
all of their raw material onto hard disk before sorting it for
useful material. It also means less work on documentary films
which tend to have extremely long sequences.
Another new feature is the Audio
Switching function that allows the user to toggle between the
audio channels 1+2 and 3+4. Typical applications for two different
audio tracks include productions which may require different
language versions, censored and uncensored versions, official
and unofficial versions, etc.
DV Master
DV Master is the leading PC plug-in for editing DV material
in real time. It uses the Sony hardware codec for DV (DVBK-1)
and guarantees lossless processing of the DV signal at every
stage of work ('Native DV'). The DV Master package includes
the latest version of the Ulead Media Studio Pro editing software*.
Upgrades to DV Master Pro are also available.
