Type Tricks in After Effects with Boris BCC Filters

You'll want to experiment placing the glitter layers over the text or sandwiching glitter between text layers.

One final thing.  Notice a subtle strobing reflection on the background. This was just a masked blue solid highly feathered.  The position was changed every few frames using HOLD keyframes. And the opacity was strobed. I added a light ray filter to the solid layer. The layer is so transparent that it is hardly noticeable.

This animation was done on one layer with BCC Glitter and BCC LED filters. The type outline was on a separate layer.

I started by first typing out the text, then applying BCC LED. LED Size X was first scaled way up, then animated down. And LED Gap X and Y were animated down to zero. Flickering Speed was set to 11.

For more glamour, BCC Glitter was added. To emulate the round bulbs on the LED effect, I upped the Ray Counts setting to 100. Below are the other settings

The type outline was animated on using Block Dissolve.

Two More BCC Glitter Animations

For this Christmas animation, I made two text layers with wipe transitions. The top text layer was precomposed, and BCC Glitter was added to the layer in the final comp.  This top glitter layer was in Add Blend Mode over the normal text layer.

And finally, this Firecracker Effect was made by adding BCC Halftone to the Glitter Effect.

Boris is one of the most active developers in the field. Beta testing is on-going. And new filters are coming up constantly.  Even in a challenging economy, BCC is well-worth every penny.
