AHN, Pirates’ Stars Harrison, Cervelli, and Taillon Invite Public to “Pitch” for Cancer Screening Awareness, “Catch” Pirates Tickets

Prostate cancer surely ranks among men's biggest health fears, particularly as they grow older. And with good reason. One in seven men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime, and it ranks as the third-biggest cause of cancer death among men worldwide.

But the good news is that prostate cancer treatment success rates are nearly 100 percent when it is caught in its early stages.

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and Pittsburgh Pirates' Josh Harrison, Francisco Cervelli, and Jameson Taillon want to make sure the public knows that and urge men to be screened for prostate cancer. So they are teaming up in an attempt to set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Largest game of catch, coinciding with the Pirates' final weekend home series of 2017.

When: Saturday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m. to noon
Where: Outside of PNC Park, on West General Robinson Street between Mazeroski Way and Art Rooney Way on Pittsburgh's North Shore
Where to Park: Gold Lot 1 (corner of Reedsdale St. and Art Rooney Ave.; please use Reedsdale entrance)
Who's Invited: Everyone! (participation in the game of catch is open to ages 5 and older)
How to Register: Visit
What to Bring: Baseball glove

Besides the feeling of accomplishment that comes with raising awareness of cancer screening, participants will receive a number of perks, among them:

  • Commemorative baseball
  • Buy-one-get-one-free voucher for Pirates tickets for the remaining home games Sept. 23-27
  • Opportunity to win the chance to play catch with either Francisco Cervelli or Jameson Taillon; Josh Harrison also will be at the event
  • Opportunity to win autographed items from Harrison, Cervelli, and Taillon (for ages 18 and over)
  • Free parking in Gold Lot 1
  • And more!

AHN is committed to fighting cancer on all fronts, from early screening opportunities to the latest advancements in treatment. September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and AHN is encouraging men to get their yearly screening. Early detection gives men the best chance of a cure.
