Vendors to Visit in Vegas: Automatic Duck The NAB offers interface time with Wes By Ko Maruyama Every year, broadcasters of all kinds gather in Las Vegas to see the new gear offered by the vendors who support the creation and transmission of what you watch and listen to. This year, Wes Plate from Automatic Duck will show off some of the latest edit list conversion tools.

I've been meaning to upgrade my workhorse After Effects machine to the latest Automatic Duck because the latest importer makes the Adobe software much more efficient when partnered with Apple's Final Cut Pro.  I don't use Final Cut Pro, but when my editor sends me a "duck'd" project, Adobe After Effects has no problem opening the XML.

What's nice about Automatic Duck is that you can get files in and out of Avid, FCP and Pro Tools.  You can also get projects into After Effects, Quantel or AutoDesk's Combustion software.

Wes is going to be in the Plugin Pavilion showing off the new features of the latest version of Automatic Duck -  and if we're lucky, he'll have a nice comfy couch to lounge on as well.

If you're a user of Avid, Final Cut Pro, Quantel, Pro Tools, Motion, Combustion, or AE, you'll definitely want to stop by his booth to see how you can get even more pipeline productivity out of your host.  You'll find Wes in booth SL2128F as part of the Plugin Pavilion, conveniently near Quantel, Autodesk and Adobe.
