Vendors to Visit in Vegas: Quantel The National Association of Broadcasters Convention offers interface time By Ko Maruyama Every year, broadcasters of all kinds gather in Las Vegas to see the new gear offered by the vendors who support the creation and transmission of what you watch and listen to.  This year, there have been several discussions about the event's necessity, but it's a fantastic place to get in front of the high-end gear, see how it's used and talk to real users (and users of the competitions' gear).

There isn't a single place in United States where you can find this many broadcast geeks (I'm one of them) in a single spot.  In the early days, the graphics software companies were separated from the hardware solution vendors.  Quantel, whose software and hardware go hand in hand sit in a commanding spot in the front of the South Hall.

Quantel may be known most for its news broadcast graphics solutions.  Not only does the company have several different software solutions, but with the genetic engineering systems, they have plenty of resources for the post production community as well.

This year, Quantel will be showing off their next big thing, Steroscopic 3D.  With so many different movies being pitched as stereoscopic 3D releases, the Sid and iQ will be the machines that I want to look at again.    The Sid is the next level machine for Online / Edit / VFX / Paint / Mastering.

You can see the Quantel Booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center at SL720 (and get a tour in Cantonese, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish )
