DVD Studio Pro Transitions, Part 2Using motion graphics effects in alpha transitions
Once you're all set, trim your comp to the duration of the effect so that you don't have extra frames hanging around at the end. Then render your movie and save it with a name that will represent your effect.
That's all the creative work you have to do. Now it's time to put it together.
Putting it together
So now you have your effect that transitions from white to black. You need to assemble it into something that DVD Studio Pro 3 will understand as a transition. To do this, place your movie file into a folder with the same name as your effect. (In my case, the folder will be called "Shatter."
Now duplicate your movie file (Command-D). You must have two identical movies to make this work.
Then rename your two movies. One will be the name of the effect, followed by "-matte.mov." The other will be the name of the effect followed by "-backgroundMatte.mov." Hyphens are included, as seen below.
Finally, place the folder containing your movies into the following directory: Hard Drive/Library/Application Support/DVD Studio Pro/Transitions. If there is no folder there called Transitions, just create one.
And now your transition is ready for use.
