Quack Colorista Quack The 'Duck brings it again By Ko Maruyama Every professional After Effects user knows about Automatic Duck. If you're editing in Final Cut Pro  or Avid and need to get your events back to After Effects, you need the 'Duck.  Not only does Automatic Duck allow you to exchange XML lists with FCP, but you can carry your Magic Bullet Colorista setups now too.

Colorista is short for Magic Bullet Colorista, an awesome color grading plugin for both After Effects and Final Cut Pro.  For a long time both Adobe After Effects users and Apple Final Cut Pro users have been using the color plugin from Red Giant Software (http://www.redgiantsoftware.com).  But now you can transfer the setups through Automatic Duck.

Final Cut Pro is where the edit starts - and sometimes the editor will apply some Colorista settings to the cut which the client signs off on.  Then, when effects and composites are finished in After Effects, all of those settings have to be matched.  With the new Automatic Duck plugin, all of that data just comes across without having to be  rendered; which saves the AE artist the trouble of matching elements by hand, and saves the FCP editor the trouble of rendering out the look or locking the cut (or delivering massive handles "in case") to the AE people.

I hope that this is just the start of collaboration between Red Giant Software and Automatic Duck.  With the availability of other plugins on both applications, and the introduction of even more plugins for Motion, FCP and AE, it makes for an even stronger argument to have Automatic Duck as part of your FCP/AE pipeline.

You can get Colorista and Pro Import AE from our friends at Toolfarm by clicking here.   Currently offered as version 1.0.1 - it's a free upgrade to existing owners.  If you purchase Automatic Duck Pro Import  AE 4.0, the updater will come paired with it.

Good on ya Wes!

Want to get it now?  If you don't have the FCP Exporter or the AE Importer, you're gonna need to gear up....Check out my buds over at Toolfarm.com, they'll hook you up. (knock 4 times, then say "Ko sent me from across the way") ;)
