Upcoming WPL Publishing Webinar to Focus on Recovery Schedules in Construction Projects

  (October 12, 2012)

Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 12, 2012

Early next month, WPL Publishing will hold a webinar to help construction professionals address issues involving schedule recovery in their projects.

When a contractor falls behind schedule, many owners, with or without a contract clause to rely on, will demand that the contractor submit a recovery schedule to show how it will bring the project back on schedule. This raises several issues, particularly when the reason for the delayed progress is in dispute. The webinar is designed to help construction professionals understand and deal with these issues. To register for the 90-minute event, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. (EST), visit http://tinyurl.com/9vw9mom.

In addition to informing webinar attendees about best practices in developing a schedule, the program will cover the execution and monitoring of a schedule as well as various legal considerations that ultimately determine who shoulders the costs.

Here are a few of the specific areas that the webinar will examine:

  • Steps to take to avoid recovery-schedule requests.
  • Examples of contract requirements that explicitly allow an owner to request a recovery schedule.
  • When an owner should request a recovery schedule.
  • When a contractor should submit a recovery schedule.
  • How to approach acceleration and schedule development.
  • Identifying the costs of acceleration.
  • Potential additional equipment requirements.
  • Cost and resource loading -- developing what-if scenarios.
  • Scheduling considerations -- resource leveling and risk.
  • What to include in a recovery-schedule submittal.
  • What to do after a recovery schedule is submitted.
  • Legal aspects and ramifications.
  • Options where no contract requirements exist.
  • Who needs to pay for an acceleration?
  • Approval issues.

Addressing webinar attendees will be Lewis Baker, a senior partner at Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald Llp., and Warner Construction Consultants Inc. Vice President Michael Harris.

After their presentations, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.

Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/9vw9mom.
