The UC Berkeley School of Law Unveils New Platform to Help Attorneys, Executives Keep Pace with Business World’s Rapidly Changing Landscape

UC Berkeley School of Law (Berkeley Law) today unveiled its new online executive education platform, a website that provides direct links to the school's mid-career education offerings, including its academies, executive courses, certificate programs, and customized trainings.

The new platform links practicing attorneys, corporate executives, and nonprofit leaders to courses and programs so that they can keep pace with the rapidly evolving landscape in such areas as cybersecurity, financial technology, and venture capital deal-making.

“The website provides those interested with a wide range of executive education programs in key areas where law, business, leadership, and technology intersect," said Adam Sterling, executive director of the school's Berkeley Center for Law and Business (BCLB). The site also lists Berkeley Law's minimum continuing legal education (MCLE) courses required by the State Bar of California.

“We're trailblazing new terrain here," Sterling added. “Berkeley Law is the one place for these innovative, topical courses and programs that many people-lawyers, finance industry folks, investors, corporate leaders-really need."

The Executive Education platform provides a direct connection to the school's executive academies, which offer intensive certificate programs for business leaders and practicing attorneys in hot button areas such as blockchain technology and alternative energy innovation, and well as workplace issues.

For example, a course, “The Globalization of the #MeToo Movement – Anti-Harassment Executive Academy," has been scheduled for May 15 at the UC campus. Another three-day executive academy, "Blockchain for Lawyers," is scheduled to start July 30.

"We have not only scheduled a full range of law courses over the summer in such traditional areas as IP and M&A, but we're also courses in cutting edge topics such as design thinking, cyber security and data strategy," said Sterling.

Berkeley Law Professor Robert Bartlett said participants can walk away with both enhanced knowledge and immediately deployable skills. “Whether it's cryptocurrencies, venture capital deal-making, or valuation, our exec education programs leverage the scholarly expertise of Berkeley's prestigious faculty along with our deep industry contacts to offer a truly unique, hands-on educational experience," said Bartlett.

The platform also includes a calendar of its course offerings.
