Telestream's ScreenFlow 2
As an instructor and online trainer, I need a screen capture program that will not only be very easy to use, but also produce excellent looking end results. Windows users have a ton of options, but for us Mac users, the outlook was pretty barren. More than a year ago when I started doing video tutorials I came across ScreenFlow, and liked it a lot. Well, Telestream is back with version two of this great program. Let's see if it's worth the upgrade.
SF2 is installed by a simple drag and drop into your applications folder, which should take you no longer than a few seconds. Telestream has also given potential buyers the ability to download and use SF2 free with no restrictions, except there is a watermark placed on your final output, until you have purchased a license key.
What's new in version 2
SF2 adds some new, and very needed updates including:
Users now have the ability to add up to 16 different effects to transition between clips, or into/out of your recordings.
Applying them is simple. If, for example, you wanted to add a transition at the start of your recording, simply right click on your video clip and select "Add Starting Transition," and the default transition will appear. Simply double click on it to change the effect to you one you want.
Slow motion and freeze frames
SF2 nows gives users the ability to slow down or speed up clips to help make matching video to dialog much easier. A speed change is as simple as a double click on your clip.
You can also add freeze frames quickly as well, by simply right clicking on your clip and selecting "Add Freeze Frame." These are both very welcome features, and slide into your workflow almost unnoticed.
