Shanghai Film Week 2018 in New York City

  (December 29, 2017)
Shanghai Film Week 2018 in New York City

As a part of the 2018 Chinese New Year celebrations, January 9, 2018 will see two festival events co-organized by the New York Film Academy at the Museum of Jewish Heritage: Chinese Cultural Performances and Shanghai Film Week.

The Chinese film industry began in Shanghai, and is already the second largest film market in the world. Projected to become the world's largest film market, China saw its 2017 top-10 box office performers include six Hollywood blockbusters -- highlighting what ScreenDaily calls, the “mutually dependent" relationship between the Chinese and American film markets.

Events will include:

Following the opening day events at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the Shanghai Film Week will continue with well-received Chinese films at the New York Film Academy's Battery Park campus.

Young. “As the Chinese New Year approaches, Shanghai Film Week provides an opportunity to celebrate not only the roots of the film industry in China, but also the future of international collaboration between East and West."
