Seamless tiling versus regular tiling

Examining some material tile options in CINEMA 4D By Ko Maruyama
While there are some tricks to making your bitmap texture tile over the face of the polygons, it isn't always the way you want it to be.  What are your options?  Well, you can easily use Photoshop CS3 to get one desired effect.

In CINEMA4D there are a number of ways to apply a material to your geometry.  Without even getting into the various mapping modes, the basic methods of tiling might an option you haven't considered.

There are so many excellent textures available to 3D artists now, and many are already treated to appear seamlessly on your model.  Now that cameras are accessible enough that shooting your own textures is sometimes more practical than trying to find a desired material.  Recently, I found a texture on the handle of my toothbrush (radius toothbrush).  A great mottled brown.  The next step is to make it usable after you get it onto your hard drive.
