School of Hard Blocks: Set of 12 Concrete Blocks Launches on Kickstarter, Because Life is Hard(October 02, 2017)
Spokane, WA - On October 1 2017, HKW launched a Kickstarter campaign for School of Hard Blocks, a set of 12 concrete alphabet blocks depicting the hardships of real life.
“These aren't the wooden blocks of your childhood with cutesy little drawings of animals and stuff,” said the creator, “No, these blocks feature the kinds of terrible, real things we all go through. And they're made of concrete.”
The School of Hard Blocks was developed by HKW, a Spokane, Washington design firm. Started back in 2012, they’ve mainly focused on web design, graphic design, and business development. Looking to branch out from client work and design their own products, they originally set out to make something for kids.
But because they’re a little twisted, and have the maturity level of 13-year-olds, the School of Hard Blocks was born. This is not to say the School of Hard Blocks can’t be enjoyed by kids. Just be ready to answer some uncomfortable questions. Better yet, giving these to your friends’ children is recommended. It will make you super popular.
After a year of design, development, and production, these little guys are ready to be flung out into the world. Not literally. They’re concrete. They will break stuff if you throw them.
“From erectile dysfunction to childbirth, depression to dentists, juice cleanses to genocidal dictators, hangovers to hipsters, the School of Hard Blocks makes fun of it all,” the team explained, “And don’t forget these are alphabet blocks, so you can spell all the important profanities. You’re welcome.”
In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of rewards delivered in time for the holidays, starting with one set for $25. Backers can also pledge $100 for a set of School of Hard Blocks and four inappropriate haikus - one mailed each week during the month of December 2017.
Starting in November 2017, the School of Hard Blocks will be available directly at hardblocks.com, with wholesale sales beginning in early 2018.
