Real Goods and Greenzu Team Up to Bring Clean Energy to the Cambrian Park United Methodist Church Congregation

  (November 15, 2011)

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) November 15, 2011

Cambrian Park United Methodist Church will power up their new solar energy system for the first time, November 20, 2011, 11:00 AM. The ribbon cutting will be held at Cambrian Park United Methodist Church at 1919 Gunston Way, San Jose, CA 95124. The event includes presentations from each contributing organization and refreshments. Attendees are also invited to participate in church service beginning at 10:00 AM.

San Jose solar installer, Real Goods Solar, designed and engineered the roof-mounted solar system. The photovoltaic installation consists of 126 solar modules and will produce enough electricity to eliminate almost 90% of the churchs electricity payments over 20 years, an estimated savings of $130,000.

Laurie Flesher, CPUMC Solar Project Chair explained: One of the key goals of our church is to be good stewards of our environment and resources, including the way we use power. The solar project is the largest and most recent of a series of projects to 'green' Cambrian Park church, and lead in good earth stewardship by example. CPUMC will contribute to environmental stewardship by reducing approximately 582 tons of carbon dioxide emissions over the life of the system. This is equivalent to planting over 23,000 trees or eliminating the emissions of a mid-sized car driven over 1 million miles.

Even better, CPUMC was able to go solar without a big cash investment by utilizing financing from Greenzu. By signing up for Greenzu's unique solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the church was able to install the system for no money out of pocket, and will instantly see a reduction in their monthly electricity bills. Greenzu provides the rare option for small commercial organizations to go solar without any upfront cost, and takes care of all maintenance. According to Flesher, Our objective for the project is to both save money and to do our part in reducing our environmental footprint. Thanks to Real Goods Solar working with Greenzu's solar PPA, all of the pieces came together to meet our project goals with no out-of-pocket costs to us.

Bruce Chandler, the Solar Power Consultant for Real Goods Solar is pleased to have guided the church through the process of going solar. Real Goods is proud to be part of this project, working with a dedicated group of people committed to a sustainable future while also contributing to the financial sustainability of CPUMC.
