McQuaidFrame: Vertical Crops Guides for Your Camera Gains Momentum in New Kickstarter Campaign

It was during a Hollywood shoot for one of the top clothing brands in the world with a famed NBA superstar that videographer Denver McQuaid became frustrated for the very last time with the limitations of his standard commercial camera. With a cast of 200 and an Oscar winning cinematographer bringing their collective ‘A' games to set, the videography crew was faced with a challenge of how to shoot the scenes of a major national advertising campaign but still be versatile enough to serve the needs of the social media videos that would be key to the product rollout.

“One thing I could never figure out was how to film square and vertical videos on set," said McQuaid. “I needed a solution but there weren't any. So we made it." If “necessity is the mother of invention," it was the necessity born of that multimedia shoot that led McQuaid and partner Jonathan Huer to research and develop a non-intrusive vertical crop guide screen protector that slips neatly and securely onto the viewfinder of many standard cameras to provide the video artist the exact dimensions of his or her field of vision to assure that what the photographer shot in the field will come to life exactly as imagined in the edit bay.

McQuaidFrame has printed markings for vertical 9:16 and square 1:1 crops perfect for social media content. Gone is the guesswork and sloppiness of paper frames tapped to the camera housing or just plain guessing.

McQuaidFrame makes shooting and editing videos for Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook certain and simple. No more cutting off video or adding dreaded black bars to fill the screen. No more extra wide cover shots with extraneous buffer imagery that requires time consuming and labor intensive special programs to edit into a usable format. McQuaidFrame is made of tempered glass and is durable enough for multiple shooting sessions or disposable and inexpensive enough to be recycled.

McQuaid and Huer have developed prototypes for several of the most popular brands of cameras currently being used by social media videographers with more versions coming on line every day.

With a Kickstarter campaign that achieved over $1,000 of its goal within hours of its launch, orders for McQuaidFrame are already on back order to television stations, professional videographers and commercial studios from coast-to-coast as industry professionals express their eager anticipation of this game changing enhancement. See why we say, “McQuaidFrame: See Clearly."
