microLite Transmitter and Receiver Allow Aviation Daredevil to Show Live HD Video and Audio While In Flight (September 06, 2012)Rossy will be on hand to discuss his amazing accomplishments in aviation and his use of IMT's microLite transmitter and receiver during his perilous and breathtaking flights. Rossy is a Swiss pilot, inventor and aviation trailblazer. In 2006, he became the first and only person ever to achieve sustained human flight using a jet-powered fixed wing strapped to his back. This jet pack has earned him the nickname of "Jetman."
"What Yves Rossy has been able to achieve is nothing short of spectacular and the fact that IMT's technology is allowing him to show live HD video and audio on the ground while he is in the air is a testament to the engineering and build quality of our products," says Integrated Microwave Technologies Divisional Chief Executive Stephen Shpock. In May 2008, in front of the worldwide press, Rossy completed his first official flight over the Swiss Alps. In September 2008, 99 years after the first crossing of the English Channel by air, the man now known as "Jetman" followed the path of famed French aviator Louis Blériot, achieving an amazing flight that was broadcast live to 165 countries and widely covered by the worldwide press.
IMT's state-of-the-art microLite transmitter delivers HD/SD output at 250mW in 2k DVB-T COFDM mode. Its matchbox size makes it ideal for a wide range of broadcast applications. It supports video/audio/data transmission with selectable modulation bandwidths of 6, 7 and 8MHz. The microLite TX can output 250mW and may be reduced to low-power 20mW with the simple press of a button. If using a single video stream, users can simply switch the microLite TX into NBCOFDM (1.25 MHz/2.5 MHz) and double the range without increasing RF power. A video test pattern generator designed into the unit can be controlled externally through the preset switch, or programmed to be automatically enabled when the video input is lost. It also has an ASI input and output providing the ability to stack or multiplex multiple units. The microLite TX's user interface allows quick control of preset selection, RF power, standby modes and covert display mode.
IMT's microLite RX is a ruggedized HD/SD dual-diversity COFDM receiver that combines exceptional RF performance and ease of operation in a durable, weather-resistant package. It features superb H.264 SD and HD decoding, and supports a broad array of video output signals, including HD, ASI, HD-SDI and SD-SDI (SDI is auto-switched depending on the signal received). The microLite RX also has a composite video output, which is down-converted to SD when receiving HD signals. The receiver uses standardized cables and requires no special adapters. It also features an Ethernet port for streaming video over a LAN to remote software or hardware decoders. This allows many remote viewers to monitor the same video simultaneously.
