Discreet
Integrates Turbo Squid's Digital Asset Marketplace into 3ds
max 4
NEW ORLEANS, LA --(January 29, 2001)-- Turbo Squid Corporation
announced that its Turbo Squid application has been integrated
into Discreet's award winning animation package 3ds max 4 which
began shipping on January 24, 2001. With this integration, 3ds
max 4 users enjoy direct access to Turbo Squid's growing library
of commercial digital assets.
"Discreet is pleased to include Turbo Squid with 3ds max
4 because we believe in Turbo Squid's ability to give the enormous
3ds max community of professional 3D artists an efficient method
to locate and acquire digital assets while giving them a new
outlet for their own creative works," said Phillip Miller,
senior director of Discreet software products. "With sophisticated
searching and seamless drag and drop into 3ds max 4, Turbo Squid
is sure to increase studio productivity."
The alliance with Discreet is a key milestone in Turbo Squid's
mission to provide large selections of affordable assets to
digital content creators and maximum returns to intellectual
property owners. Using the Turbo Squid software, which is also
freely available from the company's web site, users have direct
access to the world's largest single repository of 3D and graphic
elements, including 3D models, texture maps, motion capture
files, images, shaders and sound files.
"We are excited with the opportunity to be integrated into
3ds max 4," said David Avgikos, President and CEO
of Turbo Squid, Inc. "3ds max has the largest user base of
any professional 3D animation package in the world. Opening
the Turbo Squid market up to thousands and thousands of new
3ds max 4 users will be very positive for both Turbo Squid and
the many independent vendors that use Turbo Squid to market
and distribute their digital assets."
The integration enables users to launch Turbo Squid from a pull
down menu directly within 3ds max 4. Using keyword searches,
assets can then be located in a matter of seconds. ActiveX control
technology allows the selected models and textures from Turbo
Squid to be dragged and dropped directly into the 3ds max 4
workspace.
3ds max 4 delivers a new and extensive character animation architecture,
advanced game development tools, and extensive rendering productivity
with ActiveShade, Render Elements and unparalleled support for
new Direct 3D technology. These advancements give animators
a flexible and realistic working environment for rich media
content creation - whether for motion picture special effects,
3D Web production, or next-generation game development for PC
game titles or gaming consoles such as Microsoft Xbox, Sony
PlayStation 2, or Nintendo GAMECUBE.
