Step 6: Now twirl down the Transform property for the effect. Change the Bend amount to 3.5.

The Rotate Around Center box allows the stroked path to be rotated around the center of the shape. For example, if we go back to our DMN text, rotating the shape with Rotate Around Center turned off clearly shows the shape rotating around the front of the circle.

With Rotate Around Center turned on, the rotation of the shape is now in the center of the object. This is very handy for creating an rotating object or round billboard.

Step 7: Go ahead and turn on Rotate Around Center for our object.

Step 8: We will be adding a logo in a short while, but for now, let’s move the 3D shape to the lower right hand corner of the screen by setting the X, Y Position amount to 600, 200.

Step 9: Experiment with the Axis Rotation values to get a pleasing result. In this example, I used a rotation on the Y axis of 180.

Make sure the order is set to Rotate, Transform.

Step 10: Animate the Offset amount from -100 to 100 over 1 second.

Make a RAM Preview and admire your results.

Step 11: Use the Text Tool to create a logo and place it over the twisting shape.

Because the logo is above the 3D Stroke layer, the stroke will always be behind the text. If we place the text layer below the stroke layer in the Timeline, the text will always be covered by the stroke. While this may be acceptable for some of you, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a true 3D shape in our composition.
