Step 17: Click on the Red Record Button in the upper right hand portion on the screen. Select a file name and format.
Because you will be importing the rendered files into After Effects, it is best to choose an image format that supports Alpha Channels. For this example, I’ll use TIFF.
Step 18: In the Output Options screen, turn on Save Alpha. This is an area that you will probably have to tweak depending on the emitter(s) used. Occasionally, a black ring or blockiness in the alpha channel will appear that will cause you to have to make modifications in this area.
For the most part, I have found that turning on “Remove Black BG from RGB Channels” works nearly all instances. The only area where this may not work is when your emitter is sending out completely black or nearly black particles (thick smoke for example).
Step 19: Click OK and let Particleillusion render everything out. One of the plusses for Particleillusion is that it renders very quickly, so even a 10 or 15 second clip renders out in less than 10 minutes.
Step 20: Import the image sequence as you would any other image sequence in After Effects. Place the sequence in the Composition, make a RAM Preview and watch your Particleillusion particles move around inside After Effects.
