Step 12: Switch back to After Effects. Select the Solid layer in the Timeline and press the P key to bring up the Position Property for the layer. Click on the Position Property to select all of the keyframes for that layer and then press Control+C on your keyboard to copy all of the keyframes to clipboard.

A window will pop up asking if you want to import the data from the After Effects clipboard. Select yes. All of the keyframes will be placed on your emitter.

Step 14: If you like, you can change the size of the emitter to better cover the stand in balls. To do this, select Size for the emitter in the Hierarchy window and in the Graph Window drag the line up to an appropriate size. In my example, I increased the size of the emitter from 100% to 250%.

Step 15: If you are adding additional emitters for the other balls and you would like to give each a distinct look, you can make changes by Right+clicking on the emitter and selecting Properties. This will open the Property Panel where you can make changes to the emitter shape, color, lifespan, etc.

Step 16: When you have completed all of your particle whiz-bangery, you are ready to render. Turn off the background layer by clicking on the background icon in the Layers Window. It is important to do this as part of the rendering process to ensure that no part of the background layers bleeds through in portions of the transparent and semi-transparent particles.
