Eden FX To Create and Produce 125 Visual Effects Shots for Hellboy
Hollywood, CA (Oct. 29, 2003) -- Visual effects shop Eden FX, which specializes in the design, creation and production of Computer Graphics (CG) work for all facets of the entertainment industry, has announced major projects in the areas of feature film, TV, and videogames. The announcement was made today by Eden FX co-presidents John Gross and Mark Miller.
Eden FX has been signed to design, create and produce 125 Visual Effects shots for the upcoming feature film "Hellboy." Many of theses effects shots will be incorporated into the teaser trailer promoting the film, as well as into the film itself. For "Hellboy," Eden FX will be working with the film's director Guillermo del Toro ("Blade 2," "Cronos," "The Devil's Backbone," "Mimic,") and Visual Effects Supervisor Edward Irastorza ("Blade," "Blade II," "Cats & Dogs", "Dungeons and Dragons", and the TV series "Hercules" and "Xena.") Eden FX will be handling over 125 effects shots for the film, which will cover a wide variety of effects, including everything from set extensions to CG character enhancements.
Slated for an April, 2004, release by Revolution Studios, "Hellboy," based on the popular comic book by Mike Mignola, stars Ron Perlman as a demon conjured up by Nazis during World War II, who opts to serve the cause of good rather than evil. Please visit www.hellboy.com for more info.
Eden FX has been re-signed to continue its role as the primary provider of CG FX for the syndicated Paramount Television series, "Enterprise." For episodes airing during Fall 2003/Winter 2004, Eden FX will be providing more of their Emmy-Award winning visual effects, including two new, entirely-computer generated creatures.
This season's "Enterprise" series takes the show in a new direction with some of the most intense action and visual effects in "Star Trek" history. Captain Archer (Scott Bakula) and his crew must work to conquer their greatest challenge: finding a mysterious alien race before they can destroy the Earth. Archer and his crew of explorers chart the galaxy on Earth's first deep space vessel, "Enterprise NX-01," as the first human beings to venture into deep space.
Also, for the new CBS series "Navy NCIS," starring Mark Harmon, Sasha Alexander, Michael Weatherly, David McCallum and Pauley Perrette, Eden FX has delivered a number of FX shots featuring a photo-realistic Air Force One, and other shots which included an entirely digital tarmac, cars and people.
"Navy NCIS" is a new drama that follows a team of special agents whose job is to investigate any crime that has a shred of evidence connected to Navy and Marine Corps personnel, regardless of rank or position. Leading the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) team that operates outside of the military chain of command is Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), a highly skilled investigator and interrogator who is smart, tough and willing to bend the rules to get the job done. The new show is being produced by Belisarius Productions, in association with Paramount Television, with executive producer Donald P. Bellisario, and co-executive producers Chas. F. Johnson, John Tinker, and Mark Horowitz.
Eden FX has entered the videogame arena by supplying CG animation to the "Ultima X Online" videogame promo trailer for client EA Games and Delphi Productions. Eden FX was sought by the "Ultima X Online" video game creators while they were seeking a "more polished and professional look," for their game cinematics. Remarked Eden's founders Mr. Gross and Mr. Miller: "Our creative team has the talent and expertise to extend their years of TV and film effects work into this newer arena, and our results so far have been superb."
For their client Delphi Productions, Eden FX created CG animation for the trailer promoting Origin's newly-announced "Ultima X Online" Game, which will be released during Winter 2004. Eden delivered full-motion video sequences, which Delphi combined with gameplay footage to complete the trailer (which can be viewed at ftp://ftp.ea.com:/pub/origin/uxo/uxomovie.wmv (NOTE: for more info about Ultima and the "Ultima X Online" Game, please see http://uxo.ea.com/event/html
