While the hard key from the Lowel Omni light does illuminate the subject, the hard specular reflection does nothing to shape the object. For proper reflection we need a bigger light source. One way we can accomplish this is with a Soft Box. In figure 04, I have added a Chimera Medium+ box to the Omni.
When you wish to control the wide spread of a Soft Box you usually do it with some type of louver system attached to the front of the soft box. When I purchased my Chimera I also picked up a 60-degree egg crate. This cuts the amount of light falling on the background dramatically by helping to focus the light forward.

Another way to think of these louver systems is by looking at fluorescent lights in an office. Often they have egg crate covers that help focus the light downward. Many years ago in another life, I helped design a two-way videoconference room. The major problem was that there was too much light spilling on the large video monitor. The solution was to by these louvered grates for the flouros in the room. These specially designed grids were actually angled back toward the people in the room and away from the monitor. The result was little to no light on the monitor and more than enough to light the people in attendance.
As you can see in figure 07, the light indeed is not as bright as it once was on the back wall.
