If you come from a traditional animation background, you are probably familiar with a dope sheet. For those of you who are not as well versed, a dope sheet allows you to time out an animation - everything from camera movement and light positions, to character dialogue. LightWave 7.0b has a type of dope sheet in the form of the Spreadsheet Editor, which allows for mass scene changes to be made quickly and easily. Some would argue that it is not a true dope sheet simply because it doesn’t allow you to lay out character dialogue, but being able to look at an entire scene with hundreds of elements and being able to change them quickly, offsets and character issues some may have. Even though LightWave 7.0b can render out images up to 16,000 by 16,000 pixels, sometimes you may want to output to something not so intensive --like maybe the web. Internet content creators can use LightWave’s tools and export 3D content using the Shockwave 3D exporter.

Being able to export to video, film, the web, and print makes LightWave, not just a tool for animators, but also a tool for anyone needing to create 3D images for a variety of media.
