Original footage courtesy of Hawk’s 900 Films was captured in mini-DV format using multiple cameras. Apple's Final Cut Pro was used to compose picture and sound. Discreet's Media Cleaner Pro was used to compress and prepare video for delivery via CD-ROM. Adobe Photohop was used to composite imagery and Illustrator was used to create graphics and text layers. Sound Edit was used to sample and composite audio and voice. Macromedia Director, Shockwave and Flash were used to assemble and animate the presentation, and all audiovisual streams are delivered via Quicktime. Finally, Dreamweaver was used to stage and publish online storyboards for approval and to create the title's marketing Web site online at www.emamulti.com/maverick/index.htm .
The bonus “Inside Out” CD presents exclusive footage of the world-acclaimed skateboarder’s career highlights – as well as a day-in-the-life glimpse into his private life and even more hot tracks from bands like Mest, Home Town Hero, Soul Hooligan and Unloco. An exclusive preview of Activision, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ATVI) highly anticipated “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3” release is also included, along with navigable 360-degree images from his favorite skate park, downloadable imagery for computer desktops courtesy of Birdhouse, Hawk Clothing and Hawk Shoes, photos from Hawk’s personal collection, some of Hawk’s biggest wipeouts caught on video and loads more.
"This project began with Tony Hawk’s desire to share music with his fans," said Maverick’s producer Nick Spanos. "Together with my colleagues and the group at EMA Multimedia, we’ve created a package that caters to kids young and old who enjoy being entertained musically and visually. You have to be innovative these days because kids are less forgiving and more sophisticated." "Skaters are listening to a lot of different types of music these days, so we knew we could put together a great album, but we also wanted to include something special for Tony's fans. That is when we came up with the idea for the bonus CD-ROM," said Julie Sessing, who served as one of Maverick’s executive producers on the project. "We were able to include some great footage of Tony in his environment so his fans can see how he lives. We are also very excited that we were able to include exclusive game footage and Tony’s historic 900 on the CD-ROM." "From our first meeting on the project, we had a blast working with everyone from Maverick," added EMA’s founder and senior creative director Michael Pace. "They’re all very creative and they gave us total freedom to produce spectacular content. With the added privilege of having Tony Hawk as the subject, this team-effort has produced something we’re all especially proud of."
